Today’s story is about one of the most iconic ballparks on Earth and the story behind it’s one-of-a-kind, left-field wall.

Fenway Park is on every baseball fan’s bucket list — even if you’re a Yankees fan.

There’s just something special about the place when you walk in — you can feel the history and energy of the ballpark.

Of course, the stadium’s most legendary feature is the Green Monster.

Which got us wondering…

Who came up with the idea for the Monster, and why?

Turns out, the 25-foot wall made of solid wood was originally built to keep fans out of the ballpark.

The Sox wanted to avoid giving anyone a free show, so the Monster served as a kind of curtain wall — protecting Fenway from baseball moochers.
